Self bag drop added at Brisbane by Jetstar
On the second approach, at about ft radio altitude, a master warning was triggered because the landing gear had not been selected DOWN. The flight crew conducted a second go-around and landed without further incident on the third approach. In particular, the flaps remained at Flaps 3 rather than Flaps 1 during the visual circuit. This created a series of distractions leading to a non-standard aircraft configuration for a visual circuit. During the downwind leg following the first go-around, the flight crew did not select the landing gear DOWN as they had commenced the configuration sequence for landing at the Flaps 3 setting.

There were not even that many passengers. But it took over 45 minutes of waiting in line to get checked-in. Jetstar used to be my airline of choice. I would fly with them regularly to various destinations, however, in recent years, the level of service has dropped significantly, especially in Adelaide and Sydney airports in particular.
Ground crew in Adelaide are usually very friendly and can be helpful if you can find them. They have a very unusual obsession with weighing carry-on baggage, and whilst I appreciate that there are some inconsiderate tourists who like to take a 40kg suitcase as carry on, someone travelling with an airline-issued carry on bag, probably doesn’t need to be subjected to having their bag weighed. The staff aren’t usually very friendly when asking you to submit to this cattle call, either.
Having said that, I have had a fair amount of experience with the ground crew in Adelaide, especially, and for the most part, they are courteous. A pet peeve, I always travel with carry on baggage only, and this is usually the only reason I will choose JQ over another airline, and I like to go paperless, hence I have my boarding passes sent to my phone and stored in the wallet app. It annoys me that after you are scanned to board, they print out a boarding pass – defeating the paperless option in the first place.
This really needs to be addressed by the airline. Seat pitch and width are satisfactory, I find them to be a little less comfortable, though they don’t look it, and if you’re taller than 6ft, it is probably a good idea to pay for the extra legroom seat. You’ll thank me later. At 5ft9, I am uncomfortable for more than a short flight with JQ in a regular seat.

The No 2 engine then fell below idle too for 81 seconds. The aircraft safely landed at Kansai International less than 30 minutes later. During the subsequent investigation…. Testing showed that up to times more force was needed to move the control servos with the residue. It is probable that biocide treatment inside fuel tanks conducted two days before the serious incident was involved in the accumulation of [the] residue…because the composition of the residue were similar to the Kathon FP1.
Startups News – LAST Friday, while on board a Jetstar Asia flight to Bangkok The cool thing to do now on board a flying aircraft is speed date.
This is what happens when you are the only single girl in the news. This is what happens when 48 per cent of the nation believes online dating is a brilliant idea. The Love Jet is a long-form speed dating flight, where a very special bunch of 24 RSVP competition winners are whisked to the Gold Coast for a la-de-da lunch, 77 floors up. Two dozen curious looking singles, including three above-average looking men, shuffle to their couple seats aboard the Jetstar flight.
I pay particular attention to the emergency exits and the location of my life jacket. I’m anticipating the biggest plane crash in recent history. This is getting horrible fast. Her mating trick is an ET-phone-home impersonation as it “always works on dates”. She is currently trying it out on Mr 22B. He counters her moves with a deep discussion about his membership in the half-mile-high club.

Next week senior airline executives from around the world will gather in Las Vegas for a networking conference to help chart their future growth plans. The three-day World Routes Summit will attract more than 3, delegates drawn from airlines, airports and tourism boards with one prime objective: to persuade airlines to open up new routes. Airport authorities representing the likes of London, Oslo, Shanghai, Auckland and Houston or cities not normally on the radar such as Abidjan, Dubrovnik, El Paso, Hamilton, Krakow and Santander, will do a hard sales and marketing pitch to lure carriers.
Taking centre stage at the Las Vegas Convention Centre will arguably be the airline network planners — individuals who spend day in, day out, creating business plans on route growth strategy. Every airline has such teams of people who are among the most empowered company employees as guardians of sensitive information about future plans that the competition would love to get their hands on. These individuals are tasked with evaluating prospective new routes; to assess their viability; to establish whether there is market potential; to analyse passenger trends; to forecast future aircraft needs; to stipulate which aircraft should be deployed on which routes; and ultimately to convince their bosses on whether it is commercially viable to pursue such opportunities.
Indeed a tall order, but the weight of responsibility rests on their shoulders as much as on the commercial teams who are burdened with selling the seats. Like speed dating — though longer than just a few minutes — airports will have 15 minutes to convince the network planners to fly planes to their cities before delegates move onto the next scheduled meeting. Tourism boards and, in some cases, local business associations, play an integral role in these meetings. The lure of business to be done in a city and plethora of tourism attractions will be used by the airports to push their case.
Contracts, however, are unlikely to be signed as the annual forum supported by similar, but smaller regional events around the world, provides an opportune entry into markets under one roof and for delegates to forge invaluable relationships. Invariably the numbers end up being whittled down to only a handful of destinations each year after detailed route evaluation.
Taking ideas to new highs
It was routine for me: I believe that beneath the wrinkled wornness of every magazine’s cover, there is always something to be learnt. That day, I discovered the “High Altitude Conference”. It read like a standard tech conference at first, boasting the usual hallmarks such as a keynote speaker segment, quick-fire speeches, and a pitching and networking session. The High Altitude Conference will be hosted on board a Jakarta-Singapore flight, at 36, feet in the air!

The aircraft and pilots were on their first fight of the day. The engineers advised the pilots that the system might require several resets to clear the fault. He consulted with the co-pilot to ensure that he was content to continue the fight. The start -up procedure was completed and the pilots taxied the aircraft to Runway 08R without further incident.
The Captain noticed unexpected displays on the ASI on the primary fight display and initially suspected that there was a problem with the airspeed indication. The co-pilot informed the commander that he had inadvertently retracted the slats and then selected the landing gear lever up. The stall warning system activated twice during the following 10 seconds and on both occasions the commander reduced the aircraft pitch attitude in response to the warning ; the aircraft maintained a positive rate of climb throughout.
The aircraft accelerated to the normal climb speed and the fight proceeded without further incident. From the evidence available, the following findings are made with respect to the incorrect aircraft configuration occurrence at Singapore Changi International Airport on 27 May involving an Airbus A aircraft , registered VH-VWW.

Jetstar flight from Cairns to Osaka experienced engine troubles on approach; Both engines recorded fluctuation sin speed as the plane was on.
Pros: Nice cabin crew, nice boarding, ontime departure, clean aircraft. Cons: Check-in agent at bag drop counter was a sour puss. That robbery for anyone traveling internationally, they cannot use a voucher in a year. Pros: We arrived safely and on time. Seems like a money grab to charge for the carryon if it weighs more than 7g or whatever small amount. Just take that cost into account when booking your flight. Pros: Seat was excellent. Cons: Nothing.
Point A to Point B. Get me there on time and in one piece. Pros: Great crew and seats were very comfortable Cons: The person sitting next to me was extra nervous which was a little un nerving.

The flight crew were preparing for their flight from Sydney to Melbourne on the evening of 29 September , their third leg in the day. As a result, when both crew members calculated the take-off performance data, they received inconsistent data. The first officer, the pilot monitoring, had updated his software before the flight, but the captain, the pilot flying, had an older software version.
The captain was unable to update his software, so they decided to employ the back-up procedure: calculating speeds manually. Using manually-calculated data, the crew performed take off from Sydney later that night. Shortly after take off, the maximum flap extended speed was exceeded.

A Jetstar flight travelling from Brisbane to Mackay in north Queensland has been forced to make an emergency landing in Rockhampton. The A jet landed at Rockhampton Airport just before pm on Monday amid concern over reports of fumes in the cabin. One passenger who was on board told the ABC emergency crews assisted passengers off the plane and into the airport terminal.
Airport spokesman Neil Fisher said pilots made an emergency landing after noticing fumes in the cabin. He said the plane landed safely and passengers and crew were assisted inside the terminal by airport fire crews.

Working with the baggage handling system specialist, BCS Group , SITA has begun an initial phase deployment at the airport which allows passengers to drop off their bags in less than 25 seconds. Using the new service, Jetstar passengers simply check-in at the kiosk, attach the bag tag then drop the bag at the self-bag drop station where it is automatically processed. The bag is then weighed, the tag is scanned, the bag measured and dispatched for the flight.
The same survey shows that 65 per cent of passengers are interested in self-service bag drop. We at SITA see both airlines and airports responding to this demand. At Brisbane, the airport is taking the lead and that is why we are working with the team at BAC to try out a common-use solution which will handle multiple airlines. This compares very favorably to installations at other airports which have been reported as taking considerably longer.
This initial phase of the SITA-BCS self-bag drop project will continue at Brisbane Airport over the next few months at which time its full common-use functionality will be implemented.
